Danny Lui’s Resumé
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Over a 35-year career, Danny built a community pharmacy practice rooted in accessible, person-centred care. His teams provided pharmaceutical services to a wide range of Guelph organizations, including Hopewell Children's Home, Hospice Wellington, Community Living Guelph Wellington, Stonehenge Therapeutic Community, and The Hive (formerly Arch Clinic).
In his final decade of practice, Danny concentrated his work on addiction medicine, mental health, and outreach pharmacy — serving as pharmacist directly to Stonehenge's clients and working alongside Guelph's most vulnerable residents with the philosophy of meeting people where they are at.

KEY ACHIEVEMENTS & CONTRIBUTIONS
Co-Founder — TEAM ROC (Trust · Equity · Accessibility · Mobility | Reaching Our Community)
TEAM ROC is a community outreach initiative Danny co-founded to provide consistent, low-barrier support to people who are unhoused or precariously housed in Guelph. Operating on a bi-weekly basis, the group meets people where they are — delivering basic needs, building genuine relationships, and connecting individuals to housing, healthcare, and other supports.
The work is grounded in harm reduction, trauma-informed care, client-led practice, and an unwavering commitment to dignity, respect, and autonomy.
TEAM ROC reflects the same core philosophy Danny brought to his pharmacy career: that real change starts by showing up consistently for people, without judgment, and on their terms.
Co-Founder — Edinburgh Place & Sidney House (SAMH Supportive Housing)
In 2010, Danny helped bring to life a long-held vision for addiction supportive housing in Guelph. Working with Stonehenge Therapeutic Community and CMHA Waterloo Wellington, and inspired by the Wayside House model in Hamilton, he helped secure Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care funding through the Waterloo Wellington LHIN for 24 beds in Guelph.
The result was two homes — Edinburgh Place and Sidney House — which provide safe, supported community living for people recovering from addiction and mental illness. For many residents, these homes have been the bridge between treatment and a stable life — a place where families reunite, recovery takes root, and community is built.
Major Donor — Bracelet of Hope Mobile Clinic, Lesotho, Africa
Danny made a transformative donation to Dr. Anne-Marie Zajdlik's Bracelet of Hope program, funding the launch of their first mobile medical clinic serving remote mountain villages in Lesotho and covering four years of operating costs.
The clinic addresses HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis, and childhood malnutrition in some of the country's most inaccessible communities.
2016 Ontario Pharmacists Association — Patient Impact Award
Recognized for outstanding commitment to patient care and community health in Guelph.
Paul Harris Fellow — Rotary Club of Guelph
Awarded in 2019 for exceptional contributions to the community.
ABOUT DANNY
Danny Lui has called Ward 5 home for over 27 years. A pharmacist, small business owner, and community builder, his life's work has been rooted in Guelph — caring for families, building organizations, and advocating for those who need it most.
From opening two pharmacies that served thousands of Guelph residents, to co-founding supportive housing that changed lives, to showing up in the streets alongside Guelph's most vulnerable — Danny's approach has always been the same: listen, show up, and build something that lasts.
In retirement, he continues that work. Now he's asking for the opportunity to bring that same energy, experience, and deep community roots to Ward 5 City Council.
